Not yet, but by 2012 Cedar Park Texas will have one more reason to transform itself from a bedroom community to a vacation resort destination. If all goes as planned, Schlitterbahn will create a mega water park and fun stop destination for all ages. Cedar Park recently opened up its convention center which is also used to house the Texas Stars hockey team. This is sure to effect earlier rumors of other neighboring cities who were also said to be working on a water slide park in their city, after all, who want to go up against the best? We probably wont see a Leander waterslide, perhaps one day they will actually start the Leander X Park USA which was to be known as the Texas X Park. Wouldnt it be great to have another reason to Visit Cedar Park / Leander Texas area?
When the Schlitterbahn water park is built as planned it will definitely be a shot in the arm of the tax coffers in Cedar Park. It is estimated to take almost 2 years to complete and should bring in much needed tax receipts that will enable Cedar Park standout in its own right.
It is sure to effect everything from traffic to housing, the Apartment communities had been on a slight decline this year due to the economic conditions of the central Texas area, still the local central Texas area has out performed the National economy and appears to also lead its rebound.

Yes, its true! Schlitterbahn is coming to Cedar park Texas!
Cedar Park Texas is in the midst of a transformation from a bedroom community to a destination community. Cedar Park Texas, a suburb of Austin Texas was rated as one of the top 10 small cities in America to raise a family by the August 08 Family circle magazine. Since then the US economy has faced troubles of it own, but Cedar Park keeps chugging ahead! Cedar Park recently opened up the Cedar Park events center which is home to the Texas Stars and also host concert and family events for the entertainment of all!
Now, as if pulling a rabbit out of a hat, it was announced that Schlitterbahn also views Cedar Park Texas as the place to be. The first phase of the Schlitterbahn Water Park is scheduled to open up in the Summer of 2012, it will also host a Hotel and conference center. The first phase should cover about 67 acres that should provide year round entertainment for families and vacationers. The expected cost of the first phase is said to be around $75 million, the expected total investment when the final phase is complete is said to be in the $360 million range and will encompass over 95 acres of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
Years ago the Cedar Park city council had a vision of a redesigned Cedar Park downtown and future growth, the 1890 Ranch, Cedar Parks newest shopping center just keeps on growing, Cedar park also opened its first hospital, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center a few years back. We also have our first movie theater! The proximity of medical care and jobs, gave home buyers and apartment renters another reason to say yes to Cedar Park. Cedar Park Realtors and Cedar Park Apartment Locators that are already established in the area should be in high demand.
The Cedar Park City Council, not content to just sit around...has brought up the idea of bringing a Science Center to the Cedar park area as a way to keep Cedar park in the cross hairs of a central Texas destination spot.
